Everyone who needs a class, an assessment or a letter from us should be able to get one, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, captions, magnification or voice control. If anything on this site or in a class gets in your way, tell us, and we'll help you get it done another way.
The short version
Our goal
We aim for this website, including the client and referral-partner portals, to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. These guidelines, from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), cover things like using a site without a mouse, reading it with a screen reader, text that is dark enough to read, and forms that say what they need.
What we've done
- The first thing the Tab key reaches is a “Skip to main content” link, on the public site and in the portals.
- Nothing you move to with the keyboard is hidden behind the header at the top of the screen or the Enroll bar at the bottom.
- Form fields are labelled, so a screen reader can say what each one is for.
- We darkened faint text to meet the 4.5:1 contrast minimum, and links inside sentences are underlined, not only colored.
- Pop-up windows in the portals take the keyboard focus, close with Escape, and put you back where you were.
- We made small buttons and links bigger, so they're easier to tap on a phone.
- The reviews carousel can be paused, and it doesn't move at all if your device is set to reduce motion.
- We test pages with the axe accessibility checker, and by keyboard.
What still needs work
- Letters and certificates. Letters of completion and enrollment letters are PDF files that aren't yet tagged for screen readers, so a screen reader may read them out of order. If you need yours in another format, ask us.
- Zoom. Classes are held live on Zoom, which has its own captions, keyboard shortcuts and screen reader support. See Zoom's accessibility page. If you need captions or another accommodation in class, tell us before your first class.
- Pages we don't run. Card payments go through Stripe's secure checkout page, and a few links go to other sites, like our Google reviews. We can't change those pages. If one gets in your way, call us and we'll find another way.
Asking for an accommodation
If a disability makes it harder to enroll, pay, attend a class, take an assessment or get your paperwork, tell us what would help: for example, booking your class over the phone, or a document in a different format. We'll work it out with you.
Tell us about a problem
If part of this site doesn't work with your screen reader, keyboard, magnifier or another tool, please tell us. It helps to know the page, what you were trying to do and what happened.
