Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: August 25, 2026

We want you to finish your requirement and get your certificate accepted — that is the whole point of what we do. This page explains exactly when we refund a payment, when we do not, and how to ask. If your situation is not covered here, call us. We would much rather talk it through than have you guess.

The short version

You paid but have not started yet
Full refund. No reason needed.
Your court will not accept your certificate
Full refund under our court-acceptance guarantee.
Your assessment has already been completed
Not refundable — the clinical work and your report are already done.
You started a class program and need to stop
Hours you already attended are not refundable. The value of your unused hours stays on your account as credit.

Before your program starts

If you have paid but have not yet attended a class or completed an assessment appointment, you can cancel for a full refund. You do not need to give a reason, and there is no cancellation fee. Just email or call us.

Our court-acceptance guarantee

If your court, probation department, or attorney does not accept the completion certificate we issued, we refund your payment in full. To use the guarantee, contact us within 30 calendar days of your completion date and include written documentation from the court or probation department confirming that the certificate was not accepted. Full terms are on our guarantee page.

Because acceptance is what the guarantee covers, it applies to programs completed in full according to the requirements your court set. If you are unsure whether your jurisdiction accepts our programs, contact us before you enroll and we will help you confirm it — that call takes five minutes and prevents almost every problem this section exists to fix.

Assessments and evaluations

This covers substance abuse assessments, drug and alcohol assessments, and driver's license evaluations.

  • Cancel or reschedule 24 or more hours before your appointment: move to any open time at no charge, or take a full refund.
  • Less than 24 hours notice, or a missed appointment: the fee is not refundable, because the clinician's time was held for you. As a courtesy we will reschedule you once at no additional charge.
  • After your assessment has been completed: the fee is not refundable. It pays for the clinician's time, the screening instruments, the scoring, and writing your formal report. Once that work is done it cannot be un-done, and the report is yours to submit — including when the findings or recommendations are not what you were hoping for. A recommendation you disagree with is not grounds for a refund, but we will always explain how a finding was reached.

Class programs

This covers anger management, domestic violence, theft awareness, and drug and alcohol classes.

  • Before your first class: full refund.
  • Missed a class: no fee, no penalty, and nothing is lost. Our classes run every week — sign in to your portal and book the next date that works.
  • After your first class, if you need to stop: the hours you have already attended are not refundable. The value of your remaining unused hours stays on your account as credit, good for 12 months, and can be applied to any Schroeder Counseling program — including a different class if your requirement changes.
  • If your court reduces your required hours: send us the updated order or a note from your probation officer. We will refund the difference for hours you no longer need and have not yet attended.

Duplicate or accidental payments

Always refunded in full. If you think you were charged twice, or charged for something you already paid for, tell us and we will look it up and return it. You do not need to prove anything — we can see the payment history on our side.

One thing worth checking first: a balance shown in your portal or in a payment-plan app is the amount still owed, not an amount you already paid. That trips people up more often than an actual double charge.

How to request a refund

Email info@schroedercounseling.com or call 734-834-6934. Tell us your name, roughly when you paid, and what happened. If you are using the court-acceptance guarantee, attach the documentation from the court.

  • We respond to every refund request within 2 business days.
  • Approved refunds are submitted within 3 business days of approval.
  • Refunds go back to the original payment method. Cards and bank accounts typically show the money within 5–10 business days after that, depending on your bank.
  • If you paid through a payment plan such as Klarna or Affirm, the refund is processed through that provider and cancels the installments you have not yet paid.

If you disagree with a decision

Call us before you open a dispute with your bank or card company. A dispute takes weeks, freezes the payment while it runs, and in most cases the underlying issue turns out to be something we can fix the same day — a payment that was recorded late, a balance that was misread, or a class we can simply reschedule. We would rather solve it than fight about it. If we have made a mistake, we will say so and refund it.
