A substance abuse assessment is often ordered in cases such as DUI/DWI/OWI, drug possession, minor in possession (MIP), or a substance-related probation violation. It is also called a drug and alcohol evaluation or chemical dependency evaluation. If your case is in the Fairfax County Circuit Court and your order calls for one, Jennifer Schroeder, M.S., CADC, conducts the assessment using ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) criteria and validated screening tools.

The Fairfax County Circuit Court decides what it accepts, not Schroeder Counseling. Requirements vary by case. Before you book, confirm the evaluator requirements with the court, your probation officer, or your attorney. If your order names a specific evaluator, a state-licensed provider, or an in-person assessment, call us at (734) 834-6934 first. We can send details about the assessment to the court on request.
You get a copy of your written report. Give it to the Fairfax County Circuit Court clerk, your probation officer, or your attorney the way they ask. On request, we send it to them directly.

Your probation officer decides. The report includes the evaluator's credentials, screening results, diagnostic findings, and treatment recommendations. Ask your officer about any evaluator requirements before you book, and we can send the report to them on request.
