About the class

What you’ll learn

You build healthy communication and relationship skills. You practice conflict de-escalation and safety planning. You work on personal accountability and respectful relationships.
If a court ordered it

Your certificate
Your signed certificate is issued the same day after you complete all required sessions and your attendance is verified. It lists your name, program hours, session dates, and curriculum description. It also shows our counselor's credentials and verification details. On request, we send verification straight to your probation officer, caseworker, or attorney.

Common Questions & Answers
Everything you need to know before enrolling. Can't find your answer? Call us.
A court in New York can order a domestic violence class or program as part of sentencing, probation, a plea agreement, or a protective order. What your court requires depends on your case. Some orders call for a domestic violence education class, and others call for a batterer intervention program (BIP or BIPP). Read your order, and call us at (734) 834-6934 before you book if it names BIP, BIPP, or a certified provider.
It depends on your order. The judge or probation officer sets the hours, and orders in New York vary. Classes come in 4, 8, 12, 16, 26, or 52-hour lengths. Pick the number your paperwork lists, or call (734) 834-6934 if it's unclear.
You can join our live, interactive Zoom sessions from anywhere in New York. Many courts and probation departments allow live online classes, but your judge or probation officer decides whether one counts for your case, so confirm before you book. Every session is led live by Jennifer Schroeder, M.S., CADC, and your attendance is verified.
A batterer intervention program (often called BIP or BIPP) is a separate kind of program with its own requirements. Our class is domestic violence education: live Zoom sessions using the Duluth Model and CBT that cover power and control, healthy relationship skills, and accountability. It may not satisfy an order for a batterer intervention program. If your paperwork says batterer intervention, BIP, or BIPP, or requires a certified provider, call us at (734) 834-6934 before you book.
That decision belongs to your probation officer, and requirements vary by department and by order. Before you book, ask your officer to confirm the hours and that a live online class is allowed. Each certificate shows the counselor's credentials, total program hours, session dates, and curriculum details. We can also send verification straight to your probation officer at no additional charge.
Schroeder Counseling keeps domestic violence programs affordable. Prices start at $100 for a 4-hour class and scale with the hours on your order. There are no hidden fees, no registration costs, and no surprise charges. We think court-mandated DV education should be within reach for all New York residents.
We serve clients across New York, including Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, and Accord, and every other city and town. Classes run live over Zoom, not in a physical classroom. So people in small towns and rural counties get the same access as people in New York's largest cities. You also get the same scheduling options, and your certificate is issued the day you complete your hours.
