Can You Take Prime For Life Online?

When a live online Prime For Life class can count for court or probation, how it differs from self-paced, and what to ask first.

The short answer

Yes. Prime For Life can be taught live on Zoom by an instructor trained by Prevention Research Institute, and some courts and programs allow it. Whoever ordered your class decides, so ask first. Schroeder Counseling teaches it live online, from $175 for 8 hours to $400 for 20 hours, with the workbook included.

Live online or self-paced

Online Prime For Life comes in two forms. In a live class, you attend scheduled Zoom classes with a trained instructor, and attendance is checked. A self-paced version is something you click through on your own. Some courts and programs allow one and not the other, so check which one your paperwork allows.

Our guide to live vs. self-paced online classes explains why some courts ask for live instruction.

When an online class may not count

  • Your requirement comes from a state DUI program, a DMV or the Secretary of State. Georgia, Iowa and Kentucky, for example, use Prime For Life in programs run through providers the state approves.
  • Your order names a specific provider, or gives you a list to choose from.
  • Your paperwork says the class must be in person.

In any of those cases, confirm with whoever ordered the class before you book.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Does a live online Prime For Life class count for my requirement?
  • How many hours do I need?
  • Does the class have to come from a provider in our state?
  • Where should I send my proof of enrollment and my letter of completion?

How our online Prime For Life class works

Classes are live on Zoom with Jennifer Schroeder, M.S., CADC, who completed Prevention Research Institute’s Prime For Life New Instructor Training in September 2026. You pick your first class when you book and schedule the rest from your client portal. The moment your booking is paid, we email you a Proof of Enrollment letter to share.

Every student uses the Prime For Life participant workbook, included in the price:

LengthPrice
8 hours$175
12 hours$250
16 hours$325
20 hours$400

Your signed letter of completion is emailed to you the day you finish your required hours, with a certificate ID anyone can check at schroedercounseling.com/verify. The Prime For Life class page has the details, and our guide to what Prime For Life is explains the program itself.

If your court or probation department does not accept the certificate we issued for your class, we refund your payment in full. Contact us within 30 calendar days of your completion date and include written documentation from the court or probation department. See our guarantee for details.
